Video Girl pro Advocacy Project
American Migraine Foundation (2022)
"The mission of the AMF is to support innovative research that will lead to improvement in the lives"
In the summer of 2022, Ashley Dallman (Video Girl pro) was accepted to join the American Migraine Foundation's Emerging Advocates Program. The first several weeks included online courses which educated on the importance of language, myths and facts about Migraines and Headache Disorders, Pathophysiology and Epidemiology of Migraine, the current Migraine and Headache advocacy landscapes, Migraine and the effects on mental health, research and new Migraine treatments, and organizations to know regarding this disease effecting 1 billion people worldwide.
People in the program were placed into smaller groups and tasked to create a theme and topic of research to present to members of the foundation and peers at the end of a several week planning phase. The presentations were all a huge success! All teams brought so much heart to the operation, inspiring the energy to remain hopeful in this journey of advocacy, education, and the power of community support. The research and heartfelt ideas of these groups may eventually be used for future advocacy campaigns, outreach, and changemaking.
Project: CAFFEINE AND MIGRAINE
Ashley and her team (shout-out to group #7!) focused on the topic of Migraine and Caffeine and the connections between the two. Presentation on 09/29/2022 included a 2-part video portion (intro and outro) emphasizing and creatively highlighting the research completed by the group. Video is a powerful tool of emotional expression, which is also a key factor into strong advocacy and awareness. Watch video below (re-edited for sharing)
